John Ellis is the founding member, singer, guitar-player and songwriter from the internationally-renowned Durban three-piece TREE63. After living and working in the USA for many years, John is now based back in Durban and has embarked on a solo career as a singer-songwriter, signing with JHB-based Broken Records in January 2010. TREE63 are well-known in South Africa for such hits as "Treasure", "A Million Lights", "Anxious Seat" and "Alright". The band's most recent album was 2007's "Sunday!". FULL BIOGRAPHY

TEERPAD (Afrikaans for Tar Road) is a four piece Afrikaans Rock Band from the beautiful town of Tzaneen in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The band was formed in February 2008, when four friends wanted to bring something new to the social scene of their small town.

The initial focus of the band was to perform as a cover band in the local clubs and pubs, but that soon changed when they won a local music competition with one of their original songs. A new mission was born and the members decided to pursue the idea of playing music professionally. TEERPAD grew into a strong and tight unit, ready to enter the music industry.

After a successful 2008 in Tzaneen, TEERPAD decided to make the move to Johannesburg in January 2009 leaving their full time jobs to become full time musicians in the city. Since their arrival in Joburg, TEERPAD has been going from strength to strength, leaving their mark wherever they perform and leaving the crowds begging for more. Since January they have played more than 70 shows including trips to Richards Bay, Oudtshoorn, Potchefstroom, Ermelo, Bloemfontein, Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Heidelberg, Ellisras, Tzaneen, Parys and Meyerton.

TEERPAD has also performed with a host of well known artists including Straatligkinders, Ef-El, Van Coke Cartel, Glaskas, Dozi, Theuns Jordaan, Tuin Dwergies and Mango Groove.
Their sound is fresh and new and it can be described as melodic hard rock. Influences such as Nickelback, Audioslave, Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin and Metallica are often heard in their songs. Their lyrics and melody lines uplift the listener in a positive yet aggressive way. The songs are easy to follow and well structured.

TEERPAD performs an original as well as a cover show.

Their first video of their well received song "Ek Maak Kapsie" has been released in December 2008 and has enjoyed playing time on the DSTV channel MK.

TEERPAD has been signed to Indie Label In8Music and their debut album "Kry Rigting" has been released nationally in August 09, whereafter they went on a National Tour to promote their album. Their album is distributed by Electromode.

Their first single Gebonde Vryheid is playlisted on RSG Tempo Kovsie FM, Maties FM and Vaal FM and the music video of this song has just been released.
